Let me blow

It's New Year's Eve and the only thing am blowing is my nose. Sniff. Sniff. Three days of feet crushing midnight shopping pre-Christmas and tadaah! Flu right after Christmas. I've alternately taken bioflu, alaxan fr and lagundi to remove this anti-holiday virus. And I've tricked my body into thinking am all okay as I do one chore after another and daily commute to my parent's house then back to my apartment at night. I even managed to make my gf very happy with flu sex! Somehow while doing it, I feel so unsick and ala-SuperGrrl even! So much that I kid gf after -- see! Sex, not water is the universal panacea! Still high from O, I feel such a genius. Haha. But now, the only thing moist in my body is my nose! Yuck. I must admit though that this watery gooey thing running from my nose has the same consistency and texture of what's down there. Hay. Am so sick, blowing my nose leaves me breathless already. What I hate about being sick is that it  makes me sad. This virus also messes with my psyche. I feel so weak that I wana cry. :( you see I haven't been sick the whole year until now. And I pride myself for not taking one single sick leave from work this year ! Beat that! But now supposedly on vacay, all I did was blow my nose, pant, feel sick, and be needy. Tragic situation to be on new year's eve.

Don't let my whining dampen your new year spirit. 2013 is the best year of my life actually, well, up to Dec 25 only. Hehe. I moved out from my parents house this year, 3-mos away from completing my townhouse downpayment, got freelance training gig, somewhat got promoted sans the wage increase yet, travelled overseas around 8x this year as part of my work, loved by my bosses, achieved this significant status at work where peers (who've been in the company for years) hate me, enough to dub me "heartless" (yes, you've been warned!) and of course the gf who still bears with my craziness, inconsistencies, walang katapusang pagtatampo on the minutest stuff after eight years. Yeah that long. Insane yeah? But I am not here to count. I'm here to live and juice the best times of my only life. And by best I mean those times that changed me to be this seriously awesome, fierce, happy person that I am now. Ok fine, those times that changed me to be this seriously awesome, fierce, happy, mayabang person that I am now. Hehe.

There's this one guy I admire in a purely platonic way who said, " happiness is not about intensity. It's about balance." Am no van damme, who can balance in a perfect split,

but I am happy. And with that, I send your way happy thoughts and a life of balance.

Happy New Year! Happy Year of the Wooden Horse! Happy Best Year of Your Life! Happy Year of Beginnings and Moving Forward! Happy Meal! Happy Fiesta! Happy and Gay! =)

uncomfortable comfort zone

For months I have been resenting my 8yr relationship with my partner. Fun is gone. Every inch of her skin seems familiar. We don’t fight. We have successful careers. We travel apart because of work. We are tolerant of each other. We are so settled that I hate it. Comfort zone is far from comfortable. You know that feeling when you've sat so long in one position in the same chair or have slept so long on your bed that it's like peeling your back off from the bedsheet  with a  zombie stance? That's uncomfortable comfort zone. And again I hate it.

She came back two weeks ago from some south american country after a month-long work, and I was off to another asian country for a few days of work. I went to the mall, checked some stuff I need for the trip, went home not until my legs were so sore, I almost crawled going to the jeepney. Alone in my place I prepped my luggage and once in a while laughed by myself at the tv show I was procrastinating with. Slept 1am. All settled. And then with just a few hours of sleep she rang. And it irritated me. Until she said she's on her way to my place to take me to the airport. Cute. I took a bath. When I went out from the bathroom, there she was cooking fried egg she took from my fridge. She bought hot pandesal, made me hot milo drink and also brought in hot porridge. Breakfast. It’s been a while. I don’t really have time to prepare breakfast thus I rarely eat brekky. So breakfast. Sweet. One thing she has consistently done for 8yrs is spoon feed me. She knows how busy I always am. So in between talks, chores, stuff, she would offer me spoonful of food reminding me I need to eat. And I go quickmelt in an instant.

At the airport, we hugged. And it feels warm and fuzzy in the stomach. We kissed. And shared I love yous. As I walk my way inside the airport, I glanced through the glass wall. There she was waiting. Not leaving till am done with immigration. Once I made it through, I called her. See you soon love.

Fun may be gone. But love never left. I  was reminded that no matter how restless I may at times feel, she's a wife I want to go home to.

side note:
she was supposed to surprise me by going with me on my biz trip. alas, my flight sked was changed and already conflicts with her work. so twas then that she revealed of her failed surprise to me. aww.

Kevin Rudd won over the LGBTQ community

Watch as The Honourable Australian Prime Minister (2007-2010) Kevin Rudd defend and support marriage with well founded basis as a Christian. Running for re-election, he recently participated in a televised open forum/Q&A as part of his campaign. A Christian pastor asked him why he supports marriage equality.

at 2:32 he has already debunked the whole marriage is man-woman bible argument.
3:00 you see how exasperated Kevin is with the pastor and same-minded people
3:08, he shows how bible supports marriage equality
3:30, he stresses his position that he doesn't agree with the pastor and how strongly he supports marriage equality
4:00 read the twitter caption. =)

also notice how the pastor, probably in utmost disbelief and embarrassment, barely blinked as Kevin slays his every argument against marriage equality. hehe.

the election just concluded earlier and sad to say, Kevin didn't win. But tis doesn't mean his words and conviction in supporting us in our fight for equality was all for naught.
I would have campaigned and voted for him had I been a citizen of Australia. Nonetheless, he won me and the fabulous LGBTQ community's heart.

great, bug hug to you Kevin! =)
*first name basis, close?! hahaha*

Future history will show how right he is.

Kevin Rudd's conceded hours ago. And this is his speech.

Out and Super Loved!

modern day coming out - via facebook - matched with modern day acceptance of a busy mom. yet the effect is as deep and resonating as any other coming out. it will leave you sighing, welling (I did!), smiling and very happy to be gay and loved.

Lesbians in Literature - 2013 Palanca Winners

2 lesbians I know just won in the  most prestigious writing award in the Philippines, the 63rd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. YEHEY! :) And they are.... drum roll please! tadaaaaa! :)

Shakira Andrea C Sison and Bernadette Villanueva Neri

Awards are:

Essay
  • 1st: THE KRAKAUER TABLE, Shakira Andrea C Sison
Dulang May Isang Yugto
  • 3rd: PAMAMANHIKAN, Bernadette Villanueva Neri

Maikling Kuwento
  • 2nd: PAMAMANHIKAN, Bernadette Villanueva Neri

Shakira Andrea C Sison
I posted an entry of hers before - "The Futility Of Medium" and her poem, Fire Eater. Obviously, am a fan of her writing ever since college. We used to write for the same section of the campus paper. Am just glad we once breathed the same air in college, even though am still straight then. :) I remember she wrote about Gen. X in Philippine Star years ago. That was her first piece I saw published outside the campus paper.

She writes at Thought Catalog, Rappler.com and contributes to several sites/publications as well. You can best know more about her thru her website and you can also follow her in twitter.

Bernadette Villanueva Neri
Det Neri is the author of the first ever children story in the Philippines with lesbian parents in the characters - Ang Ikaklit sa Aming Hardin. I made 2 blog posts about it. I was thrilled with excitement about it! :) That same short story won the Palanca 2006.

Bernadette Villanueva Neri is a faculty member of the Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas in the University of the Philippines, Diliman where she also pursues her Ph.D. in Filipino Malikhaing Pagsulat. Her MA Thesis , “Naratibo, Pagkatha ng Lesbiyanang Gunita” showcases a collection of lesbian-themed short stories. Bernadette is an active member of the All UP Academic Employees Union. Pamamanhikan is her first play which was actually staged at CCP last June 26-July 7. How could I have missed that epic moment is major failure on my end. *kicking myself* Darn.

PAMAMANHIKAN
Pamamanhikan narrates the friendship of Ibyang and Ester as the latter is faced with the cross of motherhood. Her youngest daughter, Ces, is coming home along with her partner and Ester is confronted with the predicament of how to deal with her daughter’s lover.
The story takes place while Ester and Ibyang are preparing all the ingredients of her daughters favorite dish. With the help of Ibyang who is an expert in concocting not just complicated dishes but also that of the most complex emotions, will Ester eventually find the exact recipe that complements her own feelings?

What to do with pain?

1. Write about it then throw it to the trash bin.
2. Scream at it. Curse at it until you run out of profanities to use.
3. Hug it until your arms turn sore and numb, then let it go.
4. Share it with someone. Someone who also has it or better yet, to someone who doesn't have it so they can discover how unique yours is.
5. Dress it up in various kinds of similes and metaphors and make a free verse poem about it.
6. Tweet about it, hash tag it, and interact with others in the same hash tag.
7. Paint it in shades of dreary gray and black, brooding blue and brown, then hang it on your wall of memories.
8. Take a photo of it through the reflection on others and all that remind you of it, then frame it done.
9. Bury it in a pot along with other seeds and water with your salty tears. Either it dies or grows into something beautiful or surprising.
10. Put a coin in a jar for every painful thought and feeling. Then donate the collection to charity or those who are needy.
11. Let it pulsate from your heart to your fingers and strum some tunes in your guitar. Until the pain and music collide. Until what's left is the song.
12. Kick it, stretch with it, punch it, dance with it. Add it to the pounds on your weight lifting. Anything physically demanding. Let it energize you instead of bring you down. And then shower it off.
13. Bring it to a race and let it sweat out of you, exhale out of your lungs. Race with it and then leave it at the finish line.
14. Swim, dive with it, and carve it out to the sea with each powerful stroke. Let the waves take it from you and then wash it away from you.
15. Blow all of it in a balloon and then release it to fly with the wind.

Pain still there? Let it be. It will leave once it's ready, or you will leave it once you're over it.

** back story **
someone made me cry months ago. no, someone is not my partner. a few weeks back, I woke up with a literal pain in my chest. and I know this stubborn pain is still there. alone, i tried to cope with it with it with the only way i know how, wallowing in it (for a time, because am congenitally drama queen as you already know), - writing about it.

while i was suffering, i learned that two of my friends from this blog are with their own struggles too. one broke up with a gf of several years. the other, her mom didn't survive surgery. my love and support go with them, though i can't physically hug them. this post is for them (and to all in pain) as much as it is for me.

in these past months, i became cautious, afraid of unintentionally hurting people i care for. i chose to just be mum about things, becoming a passive observer of life. and i felt weak and shriveling (imagine grapes to raisin) because of that. it took a dinner, 2 long back and forth walks along Ayala Avenue and a hug from  my very good friend K (whom i missed sorely) to give perspective of this pain. she said something to the effect that, i  should just be me. me along with my errors, lessons learned, my vulgar, mushy, asshole, emotional, tactless, caring, crazy, etc self. if you haven't stopped reading yet at this point, then maybe you are strong enough to take me and patient enough to understand me.  *group hug!* =)

what went through Wentworth

Let us all welcome the newest celebrity to come out or announce he's gay - Prison Break lead star Wentworth Miller.

And everyone was like, WE KNOW!!! :) Yey! *group hug!*

###
"Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes," the 41-year-old Wentworth Miller wrote in a letter to the festival's director.

The world was so shocked at his unexpected revelation! They all said, he didn't look 41 at all! :D

###

Russians creep me out somehow. They have their unique way of taking out the fun in things.

June 16 - it was announced that Miss Universe 2013 will be held in Moscow, Russia.
June  30 - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed anti-gay propaganda law!
Aug. 15 - Andy Cohen, the lovable, frequent Miss Universe award winning host begged off the job for fear of his own.

Miss Universe is the Oscar's/Pulitzer for gay people! Gays skip work, check-in a hotel  for this major, major annual event!  Gays used to sweat with glitters as the top 10 finalists are announced. Now, we may just be sweating with fear for our LGBT sisters/brothers in Russia. :o

On a serious note, here's how hot stuff Wentworth Miller came out or made it public-

Re: St. Petersburg International Film Festival / "Guest of Honor" Invitation
Dear Ms. Averbakh:
Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes.
However, as a gay man, I must decline.
I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.
Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.
Until then.

The Russian organizers were very disappointed with Michael Scofield's rejection of their offer. After all they always bragged they have better prisons than US. *insert evil, sinister laugh* Hehehe.

He is finally free and liberated indeed when he made that firm stand to not support the country with the anti-gay law. *group hug again!* :)

Now onto the rumors =)

Russia's Putin signs anti-gay measures into law
MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a measure that stigmatizes gay people and bans giving children any information about homosexuality.
The lower house of Russia's parliament unanimously passed the Kremlin-backed bill on June 11 and the upper house approved it last week.

The ban on "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations" is part of an effort to promote traditional Russian values over Western liberalism, which the Kremlin and the Russian Orthodox Church see as corrupting Russian youth and contributing to the protests against Putin's rule.

Hefty fines can now be imposed on those who provide information about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to minors or hold gay pride rallies.

The Kremlin announced Sunday that Putin has signed the legislation into law.

lez and cuz

In June, Isabelle Daza caused some controversy when she posted this pic in solidarity with the LGBT Equality. Hooray for her! :)

Recently, I'm seeing these Bench ads of cousins Isabelle Daza and Georgina Wilson. The touching breasts and the hint of ass cupping are enough to send my lez senses blinking in rainbow colors. well, am easy to please.

I like her pic with cousin Georgina below. It shows her dominant side somehow with that simple tug on the jeans she did.

Isabelle's slouch pose here appeals to me very much. there's sumkinda tomboy vibe to the pose, like a quiet strength and doesn't need to explain to anyone aura.

Women who are dressed casually yet exude the swag can get away in whatever simple get up they do.

Isabelle is that. Simple and sensual at the same time. That smoldering, bare face look, I almost want to purr.

Seen her in Celebrity Bluff when she was a contestant and she showed she's not just a model. She is smart. Her thought process in answering the question was analytical.

But it is in watching her in Wagas where I became a fan of her as an actress. Her role was that of a rural girl whose farmer fiancé died 2 days before they were to wed. Her role in commitment to their love, went ahead with the wedding while the fiancé was lying in the coffin.

Yes, Wagas is Isabelle Daza and her genuine support to LGBT. :)

let's rock n roll n kiss

I have been in house arrest for the last two days working from home, being on conference calls and getting shit from incompetent people that I deemed it's time to write again. I did write something a few days back. but the topic is just sad. we already reached gloomy quota from the torrential monsoon rains. so detour to aimless surfing as usual. and avril lavigne saves the day! :)

###

if I were to make one lesbian wish on the music category (because a girl can have oh-so many desires), it'll be that avril lavigne is gay. she is soo kickass, toughie, cool, hot girl. she is playful, don't fucking care and sweet despite the truckload of mascara and eyeliner she has. I like her edgy, yet child-like sense of fashion. remember this devil horn hoodie she had in AI audition?

but because she is avril I-don't-fucking-care lavigne, she of course didn't grant my wish. however, she did make this out of this world, doesn't make sense, fun, video with lyrics that could very well be the new anthem for anybody misunderstood -

I don’t care about my makeup
I like it better with my jeans all ripped up
Don’t know how to keep my mouth shut
You say so what (what)
I don’ t care if I’m misfit

I mentioned playful right? well she had cute girls included in her music vid.

with Danica McKellar  as her leading lady! SURPRISE!!!! :)

Danica McKellar is the now all grown up Winnie Cooper of The Wonder Years show sometime 90s. not sure if you know that tv show. I know of it but never got to watch it really. we didn't have cable then! hehe.

one time they were dining in some post apocalyptic looking resto the next they're staring at each other in slightly parted lips!

Ze stare

and then the most inevitable thing happens when two beautiful women stare with parted lips, zey kizz!

Ze kiss!

followed by this lyrics of the song:

When it’s you and me
We don’t need no one to tell us who to be

The song is Rock n Roll by Avril Lavigne. The video was officially released less than 24hrs ago. Yes, girl-to-girl action happens somewhere while we are sleeping. Her album will be released in stores September.

Rock n Roll

Let em know that we’re still Rock n Roll
I don’t care about my makeup
I like it better with my jeans all ripped up
Don’t know how to keep my mouth shut
You say so what (what)
I don’ t care if I’m misfit
I like it better than the hipster of all shit
I am the mother f-cking princess
You still love me
Some some how
It’s a little different when
I’m with you
You know what I really am

On the phone
You know how it really goes
Some some way
We’ll be getting out of this
Time one day
You’re the only that I
Want with me
You know how the story goes
When it’s you and me
We don’t need no one to tell us who to be

We’ll keep turning up the radio
What if you and I
Just put up a middle finger to the sky
Let them know we’re still rock ‘n roll

Rock ‘n roll
Hey hey hey
Rock ‘n roll
Hey Hey Hey
Call it a bad attitude dude
I’m never going to cover up that tattoo
I might have a couple issues
You say me too (yeah)
Don’t care about a reputation
Must be living in the wrong generation

This is your invitation
Let's get wasted
Some some how
It’s a little different when
I’m with you
You know what I really am
On the phone
You know how the story really goes
When it’s you and me
We don’t need no one to tell us who to be
We’ll keep turning up the radio
What if you and I
Just put up a middle finger to the sky
Let them know we’re still rock ‘n roll
Rock ‘n roll
Hey hey hey
Rock ‘n roll
Hey Hey Hey
When it’s you and me
We don’t need no one to tell us who to be
We’ll keep turning up the radio
What if you and I
Just put up a middle finger to the sky
Let them know we’re still rock ‘n roll
When it’s you and me
We don’t need no one to tell us who to be
We’ll keep turning up the radio
What if you and I
Just put up a middle finger to the sky
Let them know we’re still rock ‘n roll
Rock ‘n roll
Hey hey hey
Rock ‘n roll
Hey Hey Hey

because geek and gatsby are the new cool :)

After a looong oh-so while, I have this sudden intense itch to exclusive party again. maybe work and family stress has pushed me to that side of the edge. or maybe the influence largely came from watching The Great Gatsby yesterday, last full show with gf.

I didn't realize they are serious party rabid animals back in the 20s. it's beach-pool-floor party in one. there's jazz, pizzazz, dazzle, and all the good z's in the world. :)

back to now seemingly plain 2013, I used to receive lots of those exclusive party SMS. which i used to just dismiss. then I realized I stopped getting any. then i got one a few days ago which I again ignored until I watched The Great Gatsby. I scrambled digging through my sms' of the forgotten and eureka! glad I didn't auto-delete then. hehe. restraint does have value.

I like the theme. SMS blasted friends and tweeted about it. I particularly remember one very good friend, my shofatid who is fond of sporting the nerd look. her checks, specs suit perfectly well with her tatts. she's more of an edgy geek to me. wait, with her full, perky breasts to die for, make that sexy, edgy geek ;)

'hope to see some of you there! =)

The Best Parts of Oscars 2013

after like a decade of not watcing Oscars live, i finally took a leave, woke up early and basked in the glory of The Oscars 2013. but of course, sharing to you only the best parts in Oscars 2013 ;)

1. The Boobs song -

2. if you have the boobs, of course you must have The Nipples, courtesy of Anne Hathaway -

3. The Skirt part of the gown, more importantly, what's underneath -

it's so voluminous, i can camp and live there!

BUT Charlize's is more inviting. hehehe.

5. Of course we can't mention Charlize without also mentioning Kirsten Stewart, who managed to  stilll flirt with Jennifer Lawrence even when in crutches. Apparently, crutch is the new pick up line.

7. Now going back to Boobs, Brandi Granville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Her pair is begging to be freed. This is beyond cleavage, because it's almost the entire package with a slight cover as an afterthought.

8. just to put back some class and everything beautiful in this post, let me end with a short hair from our most glamorous looking tomgirl, Charlize Theron.
