WOW! i mean WOW! this is NY finally taking a bite of its BIG APPLE so to speak. zomg! at this moment,  i feel like am a new yorker as am one in their joy and celebration for this day.

am getting chills of the implication, because we know for a a fact that if you make it in new york, you can make it anywhere. *cue in alicia keys' "empire state of mind"*  equality is indeed the new status quo. and i luveeeet! :)

Gay Marriage Bill Passes In New York: Senate Passes Bill Allowing Same Sex Marriage

06/24/11 10:33 PM ET

Gay couples and proponents of gay rights have a reason to celebrate tonight, as the New York State Senate has passed a bill that allows same sex marriage.

New York will be the sixth, and largest, state in the union to adopt gay marriage. The bill will take effect 30 days after governor Andrew Cuomo signs it into law.

The decision, which passed 33-29, was the culmination of weeks of contentious debate and negotiations between Governor Cuomo and the GOP-controlled Senate. After the bill passed in the Assembly, it was unclear if the bill had secured enough votes to pass in the Senate. When a few notable undecideds joined the cause --including Republican Roy McDonald who famously defended his decision, saying "fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing" -- the scale in favor of gay marriage seemed to tip.

Even when governor Cuomo had secured 31 votes (32 are needed to pass the bill), the next hurdle was whether Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos would allow the bill to come to a vote on the Senate floor. But on Friday, after days of crafting religious protections into the bill, and seven hours of GOP leaders' backroom conferencing, Skelos said the bill could come to a vote.

The turning point in the debate came early when Republican Senator Stephen Saland threw his support behind the measure, being the 32nd senator to do so, clinching the support needed to pass the bill. "I have to define doing the right thing as treating all persons with equality," Senator Saland said, "I certainly am at peace with my vote."

smile if you're gay :)

i realized that no work is worth getting sick for. so after the mad slash of typhoon yesterday (which deemed any umbrella pointless), i decided to take the morning day off and have complete rest. yey!

so here's something to make us smile/laugh on this gloomy day.
some of the entries in yesterday's The Morning Rush (TMR) at RX.

Train Crush 18

because it's long overdue. because it's rainy season. and simply because you asked for it. :)

Train Crush 18

know what? you were not an instant crush.
i dunno, there's something about you.
you kinda grew on me right before my eyes.

i know amid the big frown of yours is
a big, uh, temper? i hope not.
i wouldn't want to earn your ire,
only your desire. hehe.
(shucks, melted cheesy! haha.)
but sincerely, i desire to know you.
the big ideas that will form and enchant me
the moment you open your
mouthwatering luscious red lips.
while i wait with parted lips
and dry throat in suspension
to your slightest movement.

what is it with you really?
the big pout?
the big round eyes?
no, something else.
aah!
how could have i missed it!
stupid me!
the big toned arm of yours
that only befits in a tight hug
with my body.
waiting to be crushed
in euphoric mix of pain and pleasure
that will leave me breathless
and yet exalted.

**hay, biglang uminet!*

blah

I have a problem. I feel insignificant. Aimless. I wake, walk, work, watch, whine, weep,  wet, wish, wonder, wander. Oh yeah, I write too. Maybe I should title my biography with something really original like, The W Word. My mind wanders a lot.  Like right now, the very reason am typing away. I am good at my work, but not jumping happy/excited about it. I badly want to be rich, but am not good at spending. Sharing yes. I feel fat. But many people say am skinny. Simply because those people haven't seen me naked yet I think. Err, god no, that's not a hint. Maybe i just feel bloated.  What's the difference anyway. If I want to cut it short, I can just ask myself, what can make me happy. Or if I have just today to live, what do I want to do? hmm.. I'd want a glass of water because my throat is dry from too much talking in this post. See, that's how connected the mind and the body are. I am talking, but not really talking because am just writing. But it sure does feel like am talking to you. Which reminds me. I need water.  If I satiate a need, will that make me happy? I asked myself and it answered, no. it will make me content. For now. epiphany! there's no fun in answering those happy questions. there's no punchline, only real punches. ouchie. so i'll stop before i ruin the fun of aimless wandering. now where was i? oh yeah. i have a problem and i feel am just full of blah.

wonderful news and more wonderful cynthia

i saw this wonderful news last week:

(CNN) -- New York's state Assembly Wednesday night approved a same-sex marriage bill, sending it to the Senate, where it faces a closer vote. The Marriage Equality Act passed the Assembly 80-63.

and then i quickly remembered Cynthia Nixon who, when she announced in 2009 her engagement to partner Christine Marinoni (in an LGBT rally in NY) said that they'll only marry when everybody else can, when it is legal in NY (see clips at the bottom).

she is just amazing. she is staunch as miranda in Sex and the City and even more so as her true self, Cynthia Nixon. she is just relentless (see the fight back campaign at the bottom). and i love her for it. we can get tired too. get disappointed, frustrated, lose hope. so we need someone like her who are tireless in using her public image to get the simple concept of equality across. it helps keep the fire ablaze. i am very happy to see this great news for NY, to see their efforts bearing fruit.

before Cynthia became an lgbt activist, the 14th person to win an Emmy, a Tony, and a Grammy, she beautifully started it with these ---

"In terms of my sexual orientation, I don't really feel that I changed," she says. "I don't feel any different than I did before. I don't feel like there was some hidden part of myself that I wasn't aware of.

“I never felt like there was an unconscious part of me around that woke up or that came out of the closet; there wasn't a struggle, there wasn't an attempt to suppress. I met this woman, I fell in love with her, and I’m a public figure.

"I had been with men all my life and I had never met a woman I had fallen in love with before. But when I did it didn't seem so strange. I'm just a woman in love with another woman."

"She's basically a short man with boobs," Nixon says. "A lot of what I love about her is her butchness. I'm not saying I fell in love with her in a sexually neutral way. I love her sexuality - it's a big part of what I love about her - but I feel like it was her.

"Christine would probably kill me for saying this, but my daughter said one time that if you really had to break this down, [it looks like] she would be butch and I would be femme...but really once you get to know us it's really the opposite."

Christine Marinoni is an education activist in NY. She also used to be a homecoming queen, a curvy feminine redhead who was the belle of the ball on prom night. They dated since 2004, got engaged in 2009. She supported partner Cynthia throughout her breast cancer and has been a positive influence in her life. She is the stay home mom to their kids and is called "ma"/"mom" by Cynthia's kids to prior boyfriend. Last Feb. 7, 2011, Christine gave birth to their baby boy, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni. Christine is the first woman to capture Cynthia's heart. =)

Cynthia's speech at the NY LGBT rally
i cried at her speech. she just made me believe and hope and feel better. =)
thank you!!!

pain, pain go away2

*because it's been raining like crazy again*

no amount of anticipation and preparation matched the pain when it finally happened. i have lost you.

i know you will eventually give up and yet i secretly, naive foolishly wished you're different and would actually prove me wrong. this is one time i would badly want to be proven eat-my-word wrong. oh, but how it sucks to be right.

i am wearing my best black to mourn of this loss. i need to do this to bury the slow and steady pain that's draining the life out of my once hopeful self.

what is the use of this heart if it doesn't have you as cause to beat? what is the sense of loving if you won't take this love i have nurtured for only you? why does it hurt so much that i can't cry?

breathe. that's the only involuntary thing my body can do now. breathe. i feel so empty that air has a lot of room to explore in my cavernous shell of a self. breathe. let the air pass through and carry with it when it leaves the imprint of you. breathe. seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years. allow time to take over. breathe. expand. collapse. take it all in, then let it all out. and then live.

shift

there's been this hullaballoo about the Vancouver kissing couple.

from another angle something else happened to them.

from "make love not war" caption to "oh shoot! am hurt, somebody help me!". the truth is, reality has a multitude of angles that translates to various meanings/perceptions for the onlookers. we are multi-faceted beings and a multi-million one if you're a woman and gay. a kaleidoscope of complexity for those who don't understand or choose to misunderstand/misinterpret. so to confine sexuality to just man and woman straight is you have to admit, absurd and unrealistic oversimplification. unless you're catholic (devout). haha. so instead of focusing on the body, which is man, woman and surgically/cosmetically altered (where no one will win debate-wise), let's shift our lenses to what's more universal - state/feelings. in/love and otherwise. wow, that just made me feel a ton load lighter and makeover better. =)

if sweetness escapes from my lips,
it is only because beauty provoked me
to speak in such tones.

Good morning fabulous people! *smooches* =)

of equality, justice and more importantly, love

it is Sunday and Pride March somewhere, so it is just apt that i get to read this supportive article. 'hope this lifts your spirit as it did me. the most important thing is we are not alone in this cause and we are children of love. =)

All Are God's Children: On Including Gays and Lesbians in the Church and Society

1984 Nobel Peace Prize winner

A student once asked me, If I could have one wish granted to reverse an injustice, what would it be? I had to ask for two. One is for world leaders to forgive the debts of developing nations which hold them in such thrall. The other is for the world to end the persecution of people because of their sexual orientation, which is every bit as unjust as that crime against humanity, apartheid.

This is a matter of ordinary justice. We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about -- our very skin. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given. I could not have fought against the discrimination of apartheid and not also fight against the discrimination that homosexuals endure, even in our churches and faith groups.

I am proud that in South Africa, when we won the chance to build our own new constitution, the human rights of all have been explicitly enshrined in our laws. My hope is that one day this will be the case all over the world, and that all will have equal rights. For me this struggle is a seamless robe. Opposing apartheid was a matter of justice. Opposing discrimination against women is a matter of justice. Opposing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is a matter of justice.

It is also a matter of love. Every human being is precious. We are all -- all of us -- part of God's family. We all must be allowed to love each other with honor. Yet all over the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people are persecuted. We treat them as pariahs and push them outside our communities. We make them doubt that they too are children of God. This must be nearly the ultimate blasphemy. We blame them for what they are.

Churches say that the expression of love in a heterosexual monogamous relationship includes the physical -- the touching, embracing, kissing, the genital act; the totality of our love makes each of us grow to become increasingly godlike and compassionate. If this is so for the heterosexual, what earthly reasons have we to say that it is not the case with the homosexual?

The Jesus I worship is not likely to collaborate with those who vilify and persecute an already oppressed minority. I myself could not have opposed the injustice of penalizing people for something about which they could do nothing -- their race -- and then have kept quiet as women were being penalized for something they could do nothing about -- their gender; hence my support for the ordination of women to the priesthood and the episcopate.

Equally, I cannot keep quiet while people are being penalized for something about which they can do nothing -- their sexuality. To discriminate against our sisters and brothers who are lesbian or gay on grounds of their sexual orientation for me is as totally unacceptable and unjust as apartheid ever was.

mental note

love everyday
and fill each moment
with meaning.

once upon a love 2

if i could paint the face of heaven,
my hands would trace an image of you.
there's nowhere else i'd rather be
at this point in time than to
gaze upon your beautiful face,
your warm eyes,
even, if only from a distance.
my heart will cry rivers of tears,
not of hurt,
but of my love
for you.

GP & LGBT

Okay, if you think Gwyneth can't endear herself enough in my heart after singing the emotionally charged song Landslide (which officially gave birth to Santana as gay and brought the Brittana tandem into a whole new level of awesome seriousness),  surprise! Surprise!

-----------------
A few months ago, in the heat of the tragic teen suicides that came about from intolerance of homosexuality, I saw a man on television who was apologizing for wishing death on gays from his facebook page. This member of an Arkansas school board was contrite for the violence in his words, but maintained that his values pertaining to homosexuality would remain, as he felt homosexuality was condemned in the bible. This concept, while foreign to me, is interesting, as it used to justify so much judgement and separation in our society. When my daughter came home from school one day saying that a classmate had two mommies, my response was, "Two mommies? How lucky is she?!" What does it actually say in the bible that will cause some people to be upset by my line of thinking?

Happy pride.
Love,
gp

She didn’t have to, but she did! And I am soo happy in love with her now! GP. And what super cute two  letters in the alphabet I must say (well, second to FW. Haha). Oooh, they're called initials eh? *giggles*. Yep, she brought out the girly girly lezzy girly in me. Hayy. *smitten for life.* Seriously. Am gonna marry her. And we'll live happily, lezzily ever after.  Mushy mush! =)

Wet and Dry Market of Things

Dry land finally! I think it is safe to come out of Noah's ark now. Hehe. While twas in the middle of nonstop downpour, I joked to a friend that if Noah will again take two of each kind, I hope we'll be in the lez/femme category. You simply can't start the new world without our kind! ;)

@@@

I missed my toes. I haven't seen them in like three days because am always on hosiery, socks and closed shoes. Feels liberating to be on bare feet and wearing sandals again! Yey!  :)

@@@
after the rain, cold, gloom and layer after layer of thick clothing, streets are looking clean again. Feels refreshing to the eyes. I mean, I stayed the ark, err I mean the house most of the time. I left the street looking muddy, puddly, icky. And now, a long span of dry, clean cemented road on a bright day sans the sun's scorch. Wow! Talk about transformation! Or as my gay friend would say, makeover honey. :D

@@@
I think it is only apt to say that contrary to popular belief of calm before the storm,  the calm is after the storm (or low pressure area for that matter. Hehe). Or maybe it's a calm-storm-calm threesome. Now that sounds better. Hehe.

@@@
So no matter how dirty, muddy, icky we are feeling,  we can just ride the wave of the storm or flood, hit the laundry next, clean up our act and wear our better selves after. This is simply nature doing its chore. =)

Good morning beautiful people! I love you all! :)

Shut Up and Kiss my V

ok. i'll just let it out. i am guilty as charged for not posting that much anymore. am pretty. SORRY :( more pressing personal issues (read: non-kalandian, less interesting stuff) have been invading my life. but then sometimes, too interesting stuff happen that is just impossible to dismiss! and it's twice the excitement. nope, am not talking about the duopoly that is yet to unfold, of PLDT merging with Digitel (creator of the mother of all unlimited, Sun. *geez, haba ng intro!) versus Globe. something cooler! it's a back to back exclusive party for women on Friday-Saturday, June 3-4.

click the image for a larger version & the party details

V Party *June 3* - the poster looks sophisticated. there's no mention of the organizer, so kinda makes you feel it's elite in a covert kind of way. this strategy is a definite come on! ;) nice. :D am curious about the verbiage though. why the need to specify "straight, lesbians, gays". what about the transgenders (which many butch are i think), the transsexuals. am also itty bitty teeny weeny iffy on the part about "what the boys will never know". i mean why the need to put "boys" in the first place? for contrast? for irony? i can't really be so sure, but i think it's the first time i've seen a poster for an exclusive party for women that used "boys" in the text.

click the image for a larger version & the party details

Shut Up & Kiss Me *June 4* - if i were one of the organizers of this party, i'd title it, "Shut the fuck up & fuck me!". "shut up and kiss me" is too cliche for me and seems too tame for my taste. when you say party, you picture, something wild, hot. and let's be honest here baby, we want something that screams sex. it's the time of the month (err, not your period honey) that you want to unleash all your pent up lesbian energy and juices to, well, other women. hehe. yum! i am soo liking the imagery from what i've been writing. anyhoo, i also found out that the poster was plagiarized/copied (what do you call a copied poster?) from this poster. hindi naman siguro taga-ateneo or from DOTC ang gumawa ng poster no? not really a huge deal, but medyo nakakabawas lang ng appeal for me.

**********

again, this is just me. as they often say, the testing of the pu** is in the eating. wahahaha! so Shut Up and Kiss my V. let's go have some wild party this Friday, Saturday. i think i'll prefer the V party this time since i've already been to the party organized by the same group in Shut Up.
